This directory contains files used by the IDL Online Help
system.

On Microsoft Windows systems, IDL uses the Microsoft
HTML Help viewer to display online help. Files with the
suffix .chm are used by this viewer.

On UNIX platforms, IDL uses the Adobe Acrobat Reader
to display online help. Files with the suffix .pdf are
Portable Document Format files; there is one .pdf file
for each manual in the IDL documentation set. Files with
the suffix .pdx are PDF index files associated with the
IDL documentation set; these files are necessary for
the Adobe Acrobat "Search" feature to work correctly.
Additional files needed by the "Search" feature are
stored in the index subdirectory.

On UNIX platforms, this directory also contains the
idl_acrobat_plugin.config file. This file controls the
use of an Adobe Acrobat plug-in that allows IDL to
communicate with the Acrobat Reader.

NOTE: The PDF versions of the IDL documentation set are
installed on both Microsoft Windows and UNIX platforms.

The copyrights subdirectory contains copyright information
for third-party packages included with or used by IDL.

The motd subdirectory contains the "message of the day"
file displayed when you start IDL.

The odbc subdirectory contains documentation for the
Merant DataDirect Connect ODBC drivers used by the
IDL DataMiner.

The widget subdirectory contains text files displayed by
IDL widget applications.
