.) Environment variables defined in xffm: TERM (what terminal command to use, default xterm) XFFM_HOLD_XTERM (if defined, hold output of xterms, default... off) XFFM_HOME (home directory for local files, default; ~/) XFFM_STATUS_LINE_LENGTH (cutoff length of status line messages, default 48) XFFM_MAX_PREVIEW_SIZE (maximum size of images to preview, default 256000) SMB_USER (user%password to use as default in SMB network. Default:GUEST%) SMB_CODESET: Necessary for correct display of accentuated or cyrillic characters on samba 2.x series, defaults to ISO-8859-1 XFFM_APPEND_FILES: if defined, newly found files will be appended to folder instead of prepended. :) --> top level shares with non ascii128 characters (accentuated or cyrillic letters) in it, can only show root directory (can files be uploaded/downloaded?) subdirectories cannot be opened (hey, windows does warn you). This seems to be a smbclient bug. If it is a normal ascii128 share name, all subdirectories can be opened and browsed, regardless if they have accentuated or cyrillic characters. :.) About updates: Bookmarks and applications are reloaded on open/close. Trash is reloaded on open/close only if it has > 256 elements. Smb network, local files, fstab elements are not reloaded on open/close. Applications are reloaded on open/close. Elements directly under the fstab are reloaded on open/close, while the rest of fstab elements follow the local_files rules for refresh. To force reload select desired location and type ctrl-Z or press OK on the filter box or select "refresh" from popup menu. ::) If you dont want icons, or want to change them, define your own mime.xml file, or even your own theme with a whole new set of icons. The icon themes include all tree icons and the top elements of the main menu. |) NOTE (if XFFM_HOLD_XTERM is defined in environment): On executing a script by double click in xffm, if the terminal used is xterm, option "-hold" is used. This means that the script output does not dissappear until the user closes the window (by menu or by window manager). But the "close" option selected from the title bar from xfwm4 sometimes closes the xterm and sometimes does not. The close only works if any input from keyboard preceeds it. To go directly to a smb server, use the go_to function (toolbar, main menu or ctrl-down) and type in //server (the double slash indicates it is a smb server). The server will appear in the network folder, and must be expanded to begin retrieving information.
